FA 104: Federal Methodology

In this course, we will present an overview of need analysis, with the Federal Methodology system of need analysis. Our objectives are to enable you to:

• Identify and understand the basic components of need analysis

• Understand the three models of need analysis used in Federal Methodology; and

• Understand the types of formulas used in Federal Methodology

This course contains 6 lessons:

• Lesson 1: Introduction to Need Analysis

• Lesson 2: Dependent Student Regular Formula

• Lesson 3: Dependent Students: Simplified Formula and Automatic Zero EFC

• Lesson 4: FM Calculation for Independent Students

• Lesson 5: Dependent Student Case Study: Laura Palmer

• Lesson 6: EFC for Period Other than Nine Months
