NASFAA Webinar

Topic: Professional Judgment – It’s Still Your Decision
Date Recorded: June 11, 2009
Duration: 90 minutes
Webinar Site License: $75 member / $175 non-members

Just when you thought you had gotten over the anxiety of making professional judgment decisions created by the statutory changes to student eligibility, cost of attendance, and needs analysis mandated by the Reauthorization of 1998, along comes a myriad of new provisions that change the foundation of the financial aid administrators discretion to use professional judgment authority. But there is no need to fear, professional judgment is still your decision. On Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 1:30 PM (Eastern), NASFAA will present an intermediate level webinar on professional judgment that focuses on the changes mandated by the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA) of 2007 and the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) of 2008. Topics will include:

  • Statutory changes to include the dislocated worker and displaced homemaker provisions

  • Dependency overrides

  • Data element adjustments

  • Denying or Reducing FFEL/DL Eligibility

This live Webinar will include a question and answer segment with NASFAA and US Department of Education staff.

Presenters:

  • Stacey Peterson - Associate Director of Professional Assessment, Training, and Regulatory Assistance, NASFAA,

  • Jennifer Martin - Assistant Director of Professional Assessment, Training, and Regulatory Assistance, NASFAA
