NASFAA Webinar

Topic: TEACH Grants: The Final Rules
Date: July 22, 2008
Time: 1:30 p.m.

The TEACH Grant Webinar Series is co-sponsored with the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

Regulations for the new Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program were published on June 23, 2008, finalizing proposed rules published on March 21, 2008.

On July 22, 2008, NASFAA and the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) will present a third Webinar in a series on the TEACH Grant Program, which will:

  • Delineate differences between the proposed rules and the final rules, including institutional eligibility criteria

  • Discuss student eligibility

  • Define TEACH Grant-eligible programs and detail institutional options for declaring programs eligible

  • Describe counseling requirements

Beginning July 1, 2008, the TEACH Grant Program provides up to $16,000 for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study and up to $8,000 for graduate study. It is a unique cooperative effort involving 2- and 4-year institutions, teacher education programs at participating schools or at schools with which a participating school has an agreement, and the U.S. Department of Education. Grant recipients incur a teaching obligation with specific conditions; individuals who do not fulfill the teaching service must repay the grants as unsubsidized loans.
