Topic: Collaborating to Recruit and Counsel Students
Registration Now Open!

The new TEACH Grant program, which officially begins on July 1, will undoubtedly present scores of challenges for participating campuses. If not regulated carefully, the complexities of the program could cause misunderstandings among recipients, potentially harming the prospective teachers it is intended to help. For that reason, NASFAA has partnered with the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education to present a Webinar series on the TEACH Grant Program.

The April 7 Webinar will help you understand the fundamentals of the TEACH Grant program, as well as the proposed regulations and their potential affects on your students and institution. Clear, informed responses to the March 21, 2008, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for the TEACH Grant program will be our last opportunity to have a voice in regulating this program before final rules are published.

The April 9, 2008 Webinar will focus on the proposed rules for counseling students, and implications of the TEACH Grant program for recruiting students. This Webinar will feature a panel of professionals from both the financial aid and teacher education fields. Because a school’s successful implementation of the TEACH Grant Program may hinge on cooperation between its financial aid office and teacher education departments, you will not want to miss this panel discussion.

With a thorough understanding of theTEACH Gran program and the NPRM, you can work with your state, regional, and national associations to ensure that the Department considers both the needs of your students and the realities of implementing the program when developing the final regulations.
