Whether you report to your school's president, CFO, student affairs, or the provost, how do we ensure that financial aid administrators are joining the campus conversations around access, affordability, and student success?
This session will help you develop strategies to inform campus leadership about the impact of financial aid in today's climate. We'll discuss how financial aid data can be used to educate institutions about the challenges our students face and how to best meet enrollment objectives, now and looking to the future. Financial aid isn't just about meeting the financial needs of our students, it's about contributing to these objectives.

Speaker: Kevin Kruger, NASPA President
As financial aid professionals we are increasingly faced with issues that have traditionally involved other campus partners in the student affairs space. Now more than ever, these challenges consistently intersect with the administration of financial aid and our desire to remove barriers to make sure our students are successful. This session will explore the emerging trends that exist on campuses and how these impact students. Topics include:
12:00–1:00 p.m. - Working Lunch With Continued Discussion of Emerging Student Affairs Trends
Location: Palm Court Ballroom
Working in small groups, we'll discuss the issues and topics you are facing on your campus and how they impact your financial aid team. Each small group will identify an individual who will report on themes and possible best practices to the larger group.
1:00–1:30 p.m. - Wrapping up the Trends in Student Affairs

We'll spend this time identifying the takeaways from the student affairs morning session and lunch. What possibilities exist for your campus going forward?

2:00–3:20 p.m. - Sharpening Your Axe as a Financial Aid Executive
Location: State Room
President Abraham Lincoln once said, "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe." Which of us has time to do all that we need and want to do? This session is intended to help us sharpen our axes by engaging the group in discussing how some financial aid executives have devised ways to do things few of us feel like we have enough time to do, like succession planning, asset mapping, strategic planning, building cross-campus relationships and building up a broader set of skills to advocate for financial aid to several different sets of stakeholders. This session will allow the group to share best practices and innovative solutions to perennial issues that can help to change the perception of the traditional aid professionals.
