Awards, Recognitions, & Other

• Congratulations to all of the 2019 NASFAA award recipients.
• Theodore Malone was awarded the Lifetime Membership Award by WASFAA at the 50th WASFAA Conference in June 2019.
• Pamela Fowler, executive director of financial aid at University of Michigan, received the inaugural Moody/Monts Lifetime Achievement Award from the Office of Academic and Multicultural Initiatives at the University in May 2019.
• Amanda Cornelius, director of operations and compliance at Northern Arizona University, became the president of the Arizona Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA) in May 2019.
• Jenn Satalino, director of The College Place - Oregon, won the Oregon Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators' (OASFAA) Unsung Hero Award at their annual conference in February 2019 for her work bringing Virtual Paying for College Nights to the rural areas of her state.
• NASFAA Past National Chair Pam Fowler from the University of Michigan received the Midwest Regional College Board Distinguished Service Award in February 2019.
• Josephine Cassar, St. Clair County Community College's director, financial assistance and services, received the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association (MSFAA) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
• Greg Gearhart, director of financial aid at Messiah College, received the Life Membership award at the 50th anniversary conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PASFAA) in October 2018. This award is given to individuals who "have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to student financial aid."
• Shashanta James, director of student financial aid, at Western Michigan University received the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators' (MASFAA) 2018 Leadership Award for Michigan.

Job Changes & Promotions

• June 24, 2019 - Taina Morales, formerly the service quality evaluator at Adtalem Global Education, is now the assistant director of financial aid at Middlesex County College.June 21, 2019 - Zelotes Smith, formerly the associate director of financial aid at Dominican University of California, is now the director of financial aid at Dominican University of California.
• June 10, 2019 - Kelley Christianson, formerly the associate director of student financial services at Central Washington University, is now the director of financial aid and scholarships at Boise State University.
• June 7, 2019 - Andrew Harvey, formerly the assistant director of financial aid for technical services, was promoted to director of financial aid at Garrett College.
• June 5, 2019 - Mason White, formerly the director of financial aid at Peru State College, is now the director of financial aid and scholarships at Salisbury University.
• June 3, 2019 - Tayler Kreutter, formerly the senior associate director at University of Rochester, is now the executive director of student financial services at Roberts Wesleyan College.
• May 27, 2019 - Shereka Francis is the newly appointed manager of operations at South Louisiana Community College.
• May 15, 2019 - Ashley Richardson was promoted from financial aid advisor to assistant director of financial aid at St. Louis College of Health Careers.
• May 15, 2019 - Nicole Casey has been promoted from financial support counselor to assistant director of loans at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
• May 8, 2019 - Hayden Wagar, formerly the director of financial aid at University of Holy Cross, is now the director of financial aid at Southeastern Louisiana University.
• May 6, 2019 - Marcus “Mark” San Marino was promoted from manager of regulatory affairs to director of government relations at DeVry University. He is now responsible for monitoring and engaging on federal and state legislation impacting student aid, as well as other higher education public policy areas. Mark has been with the university since 2009, prior to which he worked for Columbia College Chicago and Robert Morris University. Mark is currently serving as President of the Illinois Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. In 2015, he won "The Big Idea: NASFAA's Policy Challenge" with his policy proposal titled "Student Aid Modernization Initiative: Transforming Federal Student Aid for the 21st Century."
• May 6, 2019 - Stephen Nabors was promoted from senior financial aid administrator to assistant director for outreach at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor.
• May 1, 2019 - Matthew Moore was promoted from director of financial aid to assistant vice president of enrollment operations and student services, and continues to serve as the chief financial aid administrator at Sinclair Community College.
• April 29, 2019 - JoAnna Langston has been promoted from associate director to director of financial aid at Grand Canyon University.
• April 15, 2019 - Julia Delagarza, of Eastern Michigan University, was promoted from financial aid advisor to assistant director of training and compliance.
• April 1, 2019 - Alex DeLonis, formerly the director financial aid processing at Ivy Tech Community College, stepped into a new position as the director of financial Aid at Wabash College.
• March 25, 2019 - Tiffany Williams, of South Louisiana Community College, received a promotion from manager of operations to assistant director of financial aid.
• March 4, 2019 - Steven Foster, formerly the assistant director of outreach at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, stepped into a new role as the senior associate director at Western Michigan University.
• March 1, 2019 - Justin Rummel, formerly the director of the office of financial aid & scholarships at Salisbury University, stepped into a new role as the assistant vice president of student financial services at Susquehanna University.
• March 1, 2019 - Emily Haynam, formerly the assistant director of compliance, student financial aid services at the Ohio State University, is now the associate director at the University of Missouri.
• January 21, 2019 - Timothy DuFresne, formerly a financial aid administrator at the University of Michigan, stepped into a new position as a Shared Services Center (SSC) staff member at the university, where he works to bring together student services for the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of the Registrar.
• January 17, 2019 - Christopher Rodriguez, of Middlesex County College, received a promotion from assistant director, financial aid to director, financial aid. 
• January 7, 2019 - Heather Boutell left her position as director of financial aid at Bellarmine University, where she had worked for 13 years, and stepped into the role of director of financial aid at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
• December 14, 2018 - Marlon Jones, formerly the director of financial aid at Rust College, stepped into a new role as the senior associate director of student financial services at Marietta College.
• December 10, 2018 - Gena Boling, formerly the associate director of student financial aid at University of Missouri, is now the director of the office of compliance for student aid programs at Cornell University.
• November 20, 2018 - Maureen McRae Goldberg, left her job as executive director of financial aid at Occidental College, and stepped into a new role as the director of financial aid at Santa Barbara City College.
• November 12, 2018 - Brian Berry, formerly the assistant vice president of financial aid student services and outreach at University of Maryland University College, is now the director of financial aid at Rutgers University - New Brunswick.
• October 29, 2018 - Aesha Engeldinger, formerly an assistant director at the Illinois Institute of Technology, began a new job as the associate director of policy at DePaul University's Office of Financial Aid.
• October 8, 2018 - Lisa Hopper, formerly the director of financial aid, is now the dean of student financial services at National Park College.
• August 31, 2018 - Jean Rash, formerly the university director of financial aid, is now the associate vice president of enrollment services at Rutgers University.

Retirements

• June 30, 2019 - Phillip Schroeder of Adams State University retired at the end of June.
• June 30, 2019 - Brian Heinemann, dean of student services and financial aid at Copper Mountain College, retired after 40 years of working in financial aid including involvement with state and regional organizations.
• June 30, 2019 - After working in the field of financial aid for 40 years, Dan Davenport retired this year from his position as the director of student financial aid services at the University of Idaho.
• June 30, 2019 - NASFAA Past National Chair Pamela Fowler from the University of Michigan retired after 34 years in higher education.
• Mark Lindenmeyer, interim vice president for enrollment management and communications retired in June from Loyola University Maryland after 42 years working in the field.
• May 31, 2019 - After 48 years in financial aid at Volunteer State Community College, Sue Pedigo retired at the end of May. She was one of the charter employees of the college. She worked 48 fall registrations and had the privilege for being trained by Dr. Belt Keathley, who helped write part of the first regulations concerning financial aid.
• April 12, 2019 - Stephen Field, the executive director of student financial services at Roberts Wesleyan College retired after 23 years working in financial aid.
• February 2, 2019 - Ellen Pickard (formerly Ellen Neel) from Glendale Community College retired after working in education since 1975. She served students for over 20 years at the director level and was a former NASFAA Board Representative-at-Large.
• January 31, 2019 - Judith Lewis Logue, who served for 30 years as the director of the University of San Diego's Office of Financial Aid, retired at the end of January with 55 years of financial aid service under her belt.
• November 1, 2018 - Rebecca Shinaberry, former associate director of financial aid at Ashland University, retired after working in financial aid for 44 years.
• June 1, 2018 - After working for 25 years at the University of Texas at El Paso and 7 at The El Paso Community College, where he helped so many students achieve their educational goals, Raul Lerma, interim associate vice president of student and enrollment services, retired into the role of full-time grandpa.
