This white paper, authored by independent research consultant Alisa Cunningham for NASFAA, uses four institutional case studies to show of how some institutions are addressing the implementation of Early FAFSA and prior-prior year (PPY). Although these institutions differ in their contexts and approaches, there are commonalities that may inform future discussion and institutional decision-making as it relates to Early FAFSA and PPY. Therefore, the narrative also highlights some overall themes and considerations that can be explored throughout this transition and beyond. Many institutions did not make any changes during this first year, opting to take a "wait and see" approach. It is NASFAA’s hope that as schools navigate these changes, the case studies will assist schools in making future implementation decisions related to the Early FAFSA and PPY.
