In an attempt to ensure a safe and healthy environment for conference attendees, reduce the spread of COVID-19, and be in compliance with all current and possible future federal and local requirements, all attendees at NASFAA's 2022 Leadership & Legislative Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C. must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to the start of the event in order to attend. This is not meant as an association position on universal vaccine mandates, but rather a hedge against the reality of ongoing and rapidly changing local and federal requirements that could impede us from having any in-person event. Attendees should be prepared to show proof of vaccination at the event in the form of a vaccination card or photo of their vaccination card.

We understand that requiring a vaccination may preclude some individuals from attending the event. This is regrettable, and we hope we are well beyond this situation for future in-person events, but for this year we are planning to go the most conservative route to reduce the possibility of COVID transmission, mitigate concerns among attendees, and reduce complexity for on-site staff members. NASFAA staff are also fully vaccinated. You may read below about additional safety measures we will be taking.

Please note: If you are registering on someone else's behalf, you will need to know their vaccination status in order to register them as they will be required to show proof of vaccination on-site if requested.

Additional COVID-19 Protocols and Safety Measures

  • We will follow protocols issued by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention and District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser. As of November 22, D.C.’s indoor mask mandate has been lifted, however the latest guidance advises those in D.C. to "consider their risk factors and surroundings carefully when choosing layered mitigations strategies (e.g., wearing a mask, social distancing)." Conference attendees may opt to wear a mask if desired. Staff at The Mayflower Hotel are required to wear masks at present.
  • If you are symptomatic at the time of the event, or have been exposed to someone who has recently contracted COVID-19, please do not attend.
  • Conference rooms will be arranged to allow for more social distancing between seats.
  • Plated food will not be offered. A voucher will be included for lunch from a NASFAA-sponsored food truck.
  • To limit communal food and drink offerings, upon checking in at the conference, each attendee will be given two $10 gift cards for local coffee shops that can be used for a light breakfast Monday and Tuesday. (See our list of nearby coffee shops & eateries) NASFAA will provide beverage breaks in the morning and snack breaks in the afternoon in the Exhibit Area for all participants.
  • Upon checking in on-site at the registration desk, attendees will be able to select a button to pin to their conference lanyard (red, yellow, or green) to indicate their comfortability with socializing, with green indicating they are comfortable with normal contact and close conversations, yellow indicating their preference for minimal contact (think fistbumps versus hugs or handshakes), and red indicating their preference that other attendees maintain a distance of six-feet-away, as possible.
