Subject: OUTAGE ALERT - Federal Student Aid Website and System Outages January 28-29, 2017
On January 28-29, 2017, we plan to execute extended website maintenance and operating system upgrades to many Federal Student Aid websites and systems. This work is in addition to the regular weekly maintenance that occurs each weekend.
This announcement provides information about the websites and systems that will be affected during the extended maintenance periods. Please review the information in this announcement and evaluate the impact on your school or organization during the periods when the affected websites and systems will be unavailable.
FSA ID Outage that Begins at 9:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 28, 2017
From 9:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 28 until 11:00 A.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 29, users will be unable to access functionality that requires an FSA ID on the following websites and systems:
FAFSA on the Web
Federal Student Aid Feedback System
National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Student Access
StudentAid.gov My Federal Student Aid functionality
Outage that Begins at 11:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 28, 2017
In addition to the outage described above, a second, more limited outage period will occur from 11:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 28 until 2:00 A.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 29. During this time the following websites and systems will not be available:

SAIG File Submission Impact on January 28-29, 2017
From 11:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 28 until 2:00 A.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 29, file transmissions via the SAIG will be interrupted. Users attempting to transmit files via the SAIG during an outage period using either EDconnect or TDClient software will receive an error message informing them that the SAIG is unavailable. Data must be transmitted at a later time, after the outage is complete.
