Subject: FSA Coach - 2017-2018 Advanced Training Course

Summary: This letter announces the availability of a new course in the FSA Coach training suite. The Advanced Training course provides an online training opportunity for financial aid directors and managers, and includes a primer for new directors, a module on audits and program reviews, and a cash management module.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce the release of the 2017-2018 FSA Coach Advanced Training course. With the addition of this new course, the FSA Coach training suite now offers a self-paced, interactive training opportunity for financial aid administrators at all levels of expertise, focusing on the essential knowledge and skills needed to successfully administer the Title IV federal student aid programs.

For more information about the complementary FSA Coach Basic and Intermediate Training courses, refer to Dear Colleague Letters ANN-17-01 and ANN-17-02.

The Advanced Training course will be of interest to financial aid directors, supervisory staff, and experienced financial aid staff seeking to learn more about these advanced topics:

  • A Primer for New Financial Aid Directors

  • Audits and Program Reviews

  • Cash Management

All FSA Coach lessons can be completed individually or as a full course, allowing users to tailor the training to their specific needs. In addition, the lessons feature hyperlinks to other Federal Student Aid information and products, interactive exercises, review questions, and quizzes that help learners assess their mastery of the course material.

The FSA Coach Advanced Training course is available on the Federal Student Aid E-Training website, located at https://fsatraining.info/login.

To access the training, log in to Federal Student Aid E-Training with your username and password. After logging in, point your cursor to "FSA Coach Suite Courses" on the main menu bar. From the drop-down menu that appears, choose "Coach Advanced 2017-18" to launch the course.

Note: If you do not have a username and password for Federal Student Aid E-Training, select "Create new account" from the home page and follow the instructions to create a username and password.

The training may also be accessed from the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) website at https://ifap.ed.gov/ifap/fsacoach.jsp.

In the coming months, we will announce new 2017-2018 updates to the Basic Training, Basic Training for Foreign Schools, and Intermediate Training courses.
