No Changes to Verification Items and Acceptable Documentation for the 2021-22 Award Year

Verification items and acceptable documentation for the 2021-22 award year will be unchanged from the 2020-21 award year, per a Department of Education (ED) Federal Register notice published Thursday.

Note, however, that specific line items from tax forms that will be used to perform 2021-22 verification may change due to changes to relevant line items on federal tax forms. As of now, regulatory verification flexibilities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic do not apply to the 2021-22 award year.

The Federal Register notes, "The Secretary will extend the effective period of its guidance to include the 2021-2022 award year if circumstances warrant an extension and will inform the public of such an extension at the appropriate time."
