The Department of Education (ED) updated the attachment to the July 30 Electronic Announcement to add instructions for schools that need to request a reopening of the 2019-20 award year in the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system to add the Coronavirus Indicator to records.
As a reminder, a request to reopen a closed year in COD will generate a Reopen or Extended Processing Letter to the President and Financial Aid Administrator at the school.
This is the official notification that the request has been granted, that the school is no longer closed out for that program/award year, and that any previously generated closeout letters issued by Federal Student Aid (FSA) are no longer valid. It also reminds the school to complete additional reconciliation and balance confirmation once they have finished processing any updates.
