Education Department Moves to Resume Audits of Financial Aid Applicants

"The Biden administration on Tuesday detailed its plan to restart audits of students who apply for federal financial aid for the next school year after it suspended significant parts of that process this year in response to the pandemic," POLITICO reports.

..."Justin Draeger, who leads the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, said that resuming the verification process will have “serious negative consequences for both students and schools.

'Low-income and vulnerable students have borne the brunt of this pandemic, and it shows in lower FAFSA completions and lower college enrollments,' he said in a statement. 'Adding back this burdensome verification process - which results in very few actual changes to aid offers - will make the college going process that much more difficult.'"
