FAFSA Issues Continue as School Year Approaches

"Updates and a lack of communication with the Federal Application for Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA, have created a series of issues since its implementation in October 2023," WTVY reports.

..."Initially, the Education Department said colleges could submit corrections in bulk in July.

Now, financial aid offices are facing another delay as they will not be able to submit batch corrections.

Instead, they will have to submit revisions individually and manually through a federal online portal.

The delay from manual input of corrections could mean that some financial aid disbursements won’t reach some students’ bank accounts by the time by the time class starts -- leaving them unable to pay bills and fees when they’re due.

The FAFSA issues started in October, when the updated version was released.

A series of processing errors and delays throughout the spring and summer continued to delay corrections and simplicity for schools and students’ families alike.

Because of the continued issues, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators is now calling for a change."
