"Higher-ed associations cheered after the U.S. Department of Education on Friday pushed back the deadline from October to January 15 for submitting data under new gainful-employment regulations, which penalize career-training programs whose graduates bear high student-loan debts, and financial-value transparency rules, which are designed to give students information about costs and financial outcomes for all programs," The Chronicle of Higher Education reports.

"But they urged the department to extend the due date even further, to July 2025, as requested by a bipartisan group of senators last week, because colleges are struggling to keep up with extra work caused by the botched debut of the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid. (Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators)"
