Navigating Uncertainty with Confidence—Together

Dear NASFAA Members,

The past several months have brought significant uncertainty to the world of student financial aid. While change is nothing new for our community, the pace and unpredictability of recent developments have created a challenging environment for all of us. At NASFAA, we recognize the weight of this moment and want to assure you that we are here to help you navigate it.

The Power of Pause

In a fast-moving landscape, we know campus leaders look to you for answers—and you turn to NASFAA. As policies evolve and new processes emerge, it’s important to remember that headlines are not mandates. While change can bring urgency, taking a moment to assess the landscape, connect with colleagues, and rely on trusted guidance helps ensure thoughtful, informed decisions.

This is not the first time our community has been tested. Just as we did through COVID and the rollout of the 2024-25 FAFSA, we can rely on each other and on NASFAA to wade through the dark waters of uncertainty. Our profession has always demonstrated resilience in navigating challenges. Financial aid professionals are poised and ready to provide the calm, measured leadership your campus community relies on.

NASFAA’s Commitment

For our part, NASFAA is committed to providing a steady hand to help you navigate these announcements, consider how to proceed, and appropriately counsel campus administrators. While we may not have immediate answers to every question, we will always share what we know, acknowledge what we don’t, and help you prepare for what’s ahead. When we become aware of news that will impact our community, you can trust that we will promptly share that information through our social media channels, our online Slack communities, and Today’s News.

Staying Connected

As conditions develop and we learn more, our messages to you will focus on practical steps you can take now, strategies for engaging with institutional leadership, and ways to advocate for the resources you need. More than ever, we encourage you to lean on your NASFAA community and utilize NASFAA resources like Today’s News and the AskRegs Knowledgebase to stay current with the latest news from Washington.

We cannot promise our members will be immune from proposed changes, but we will do our best to understand the impacts, deliver useful information, and strive to minimize disruptions to your work. Our goal is to empower you to continue serving your students with confidence, no matter what lies ahead, and to ensure your voices and challenges are heard at the highest levels.

We appreciate all you do, and will continue to stand beside you every step of the way.

Sincerely,
Beth Maglione
Interim President & CEO
