NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

This AskRegs Knowledgebase Q&A was updated again, on July 21, 2021, to provide clarification from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) about updating Verification Status Codes, as well as confirmation that resolution of IRS Request Flags "06" and "07" is still required for all students and parents regardless of the verification waiver. View the updated answer to this question to learn more.

On Thursday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT, John Burton Advocates for Youth (JBAY) — a nonprofit that works throughout California to improve the quality of life for youth who have been in foster care or homeless — will be hosting a free webinar exploring the impact of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards and policies on financial aid receipt and enrollment of first-year Pell Grant recipients attending a California Community College. Specific attention will be paid to the impact on students of color and those with experience in foster care. The webinar will also introduce federal, state, and institutional-level recommendations, including those currently adopted at postsecondary institutions across California, to increase equity and remove barriers to student success.
