As congressional Democrats move forward with their drafting of a massive reconciliation package, attention is turning towards the House Education and Labor committee which could take up, and advance, their portion of the measure as soon as this week. That speedy timeline is drawing the ire of Republicans.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tune in Wednesday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. ET to join NASFAA’s Susan Shogren and a panel of four financial aid administrators as they review the factors that affect the Cohort Default Rate (CDR) calculation and discuss their solutions for reducing CDRs and helping their borrowers navigate federal loan repayment successfully. Join us for this brand new five-week course that will review the different types of higher education loan programs with a focus on the federal Direct Loan application and origination process, eligibility criteria, annual and aggregate limits, and loan periods. Course participants will also explore private education loans, institutional loans, and truth in lending disclosures and practices. This course, designed to provide a general overview of the higher educational loan programs, is a great learning tool for all levels of financial aid professionals. Upon passing the course, you will receive a NASFAA U Certificate. Register now.

As the seasons change, it’s a great time to change your NASFAA password, too. All site users are being asked to change their passwords in advance of upcoming site maintenance, which will take place October 8–11. If you haven’t done so in the past month or so you’ll be prompted to complete this when you next log in to nasfaa.org. Once complete, you’ll be directed to your intended location. If you don't complete this process by October 8, you'll be forced to reset the password on your next visit, and unable to access the site until you do so. You can visit the Change Password page now to update your information, and skip the reminder process if you prefer.

Exam dates and times are filling up, so if you haven’t already, be sure to schedule your exam session soon. The upcoming testing window is open Wednesday, September 15–Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Learn more about the testing process and make sure you meet all of the technical requirements. It’s not too late to complete your certification application online
