The Department of Education’s (ED) negotiated rulemaking committee delved into topics concerning income-driven repayment plans (IDR) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) during Tuesday’s session.

The Department of Education (ED) in a Federal Register notice, published on Wednesday, announced its intent to establish a rulemaking committee, the “Institutional and Programmatic Eligibility Committee” that would incorporate 13 different constituencies to provide input on seven topics including the “90/10 loophole," gainful employment, financial responsibility, administrative capability, and more. In order to serve as a negotiator, ED requests that all interested parties have their nominations submitted within seven days from the date of publication in the Federal Register. The committee’s first of three proposed sessions is scheduled for January 18-21. All sessions will be conducted in a virtual setting. Public comments on this topic were offered in October.
