NEWS FROM NASFAA

In this iteration of "Altitude," NASFAA President Justin Draeger shares what he's been reading this week, including thoughts on living expenses, losing faith in government programs, the four-day workweek, rolling with the punches to turn a typo into an opportunity to drum up student aid donations, and more. NASFAA's "Altitude" is a new-ish Today's News series that aims to provide a 30,000-foot view on the intersections of economics, public policy, management, and student financial aid. It may be easier to say what this series isn't: a place to find answers to tough regulatory and implementation questions. Like — or don't like — what you're reading? As the Department of Education (ED) prepares to begin its first session of negotiated rulemaking covering — among other topics — gainful employment (GE), NASFAA has created a new resource for members. The gainful employment web center provides a broad overview of the history of the GE regulations since 2011. Included are summaries of the three previous rulemaking sessions, links to ED documents, and NASFAA analysis and coverage. Continue to visit the GE web center for updates as negotiations take place over the next few months.
