President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed Congress’ massive fiscal year 2022 spending bill into law, which contains $24.6 billion for federal student aid programs, and includes a $400 increase to the maximum Pell Grant award, bringing the total to $6,895 for the 2022-23 award year. Congress flirted with its most recent expiration of a short-term spending extension to keep the government operational and ultimately cleared its wide ranging $1.5 trillion package well before the March 11 midnight deadline, as the Senate passed the spending bill Thursday evening.
