In response to the ongoing issues stemming from the financial hardships imposed by the complicated nature of the current student loan system, NASFAA has developed comprehensive recommendations aimed at providing policy makers with targeted and tangible solutions to address the long documented, underlying flaws in the current servicing model and the Office of Federal Student Aid’s (FSA) structure and responsibilities. In a white paper released this week aimed at addressing the underlying flaws in the student loan system, NASFAA put forward 12 recommendations for improvements that can be made to loan servicing.

This online course, beginning July 5, will focus on the fundamentals of financial aid including applying, financial aid concepts, categories and types of financial aid, the Title IV aid programs, other federal sources of student assistance, and comparing financial aid offers. NASFAA is seeking volunteers for our Staffing and Benchmarking Task Force. This task force, which runs from May 2022 through May 2023, will examine NASFAA's benchmarking survey and report to determine what, if any, changes are needed to ensure it is collecting the most relevant and important information for financial aid offices. The task force will also provide feedback on the structure and layout of the 2023 NASFAA Benchmarking Report as it is being developed during the winter and spring of 2023.
