The NASFAA Communications Team is pleased to welcome Maria Carrasco as our new reporter. Maria is a 2019 graduate of American University where she studied journalism and political science. Maria comes to us from Inside Higher Ed, where she was a student life reporter since August 2021 covering a wide range of issues, such as mental health, Greek life, academic integrity, and more. Before that, she worked at Politico for over two years as a digital producer assisting with news coverage for different teams. Maria was born in Chile but grew up in the Midwest, and currently lives in Washington, D.C. Please join us in welcoming Maria!

Beginning May 18, 2022 and for the remainder of the 2022-23 FAFSA processing and verification cycle, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) waives verification of all FAFSA/ISIR information, except for identity/Statement of Educational Purpose in Verification Tracking Groups V4 and V5. See Dear Colleague Letter GEN-22-06 and AskRegs Q&A, How Do We Implement the Verification Waiver For the Remainder Of 2022-23?, for guidance. The following guidance is still relevant depending on context and/or application of the waiver. View the full answer to this question to learn more.

As of July 1, 2022 the CFAA Program Commission will be led by Commission Chair Christina Tangalakis, Ed.D. Shannon Crossland will continue to serve on the Commission as past chair, and Craig Slaughter will serve as chair-elect. During the past year, the CFAA Program added new accomplishments, including the inaugural FAAC® Forum, introduction of the FAAC Slack Community, and recertification of the first FAAC cohort. NASFAA is excited to support the incoming commissioners as they continue to advance the program over the next year. Meet all of the 2022-23 commissioners.
