NEWS FROM NASFAA

Full participation of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) waiver program would narrow the racial gap in student debt burden and largely benefit teachers and health care workers, found a new working paper published in the National Bureau of Economic Research.

The Department of Education published the 2023-24 verification items and acceptable documentation in the Federal Register last week, making no changes to the verifiable items from 2022-23. The verification waiver that was put in place during the pandemic waiving verification for all verification tracking groups except V4/V5 was not included in the Federal Register notice, meaning, as of now, verification will once again be required for all tracking groups.

The 2022 NASFAA Virtual Conference kicks off today with a diversity session focusing on how to be an inclusive leader for justice and equity, plus a NASFAA U Authorized Event on verification. This week, registrants will have the opportunity to participate in a series of entirely unique sessions not offered at our in-person national conference last month. It's not too late to register — for the cost of just $250, everyone on your NASFAA roster can participate, and have access to session recordings for one year. Stay tuned for highlights from the conference this week!
