On Wednesday, the Department of Education (ED) released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for the majority of topics negotiated by the Affordability and Student Loans committee that convened last fall as part of the department’s 2021-22 negotiated rulemaking agenda.

While no announcement has been made by the U.S. Department of Education (ED), schools have been reporting a sudden uptick in Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) after July 1, 2022. Comment Code 390 is most likely due to the Selective Service database match and a change in processing that was implemented July 1, 2022. ED disabled the Selective Service database match as part of the phased-in approach to removing the Selective Service requirement from FAFSA processing.
