As the student loan repayment pause again approaches its expiration, the Department of Education's (ED) top higher education official — Under Secretary James Kvaal — recently reiterated that the administration is continuing to look at broadscale forgiveness and is continuing to examine their authority.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

For NSLDS Enrollment Reporting purposes, 34 CFR 685.305(c) requires the school to report the same withdrawal date that the school used for return of Title IV funds (R2T4) purposes under 668.22(b) or (c). That is, the effective date for the withdrawn (‘W’) status is the withdrawal date used by the school in the R2T4 calculation. This is true for term, nonstandard term, and nonterm payment periods.
