A federal judge on Thursday struck down President Joe Biden's student loan debt cancellation program, declaring the action an "unconstitutional exercise of Congress's legislative power." The ruling, coming from a court case in Texas, further complicates the administration's efforts to implement the program — which late last month was stalled by a legal injunction that has halted borrowers from having their applications processed and receiving debt cancellation.

For more than a decade the Department of Education (ED) has failed to provide Congress with more than a dozen Experimental Sites Initiative (ESI) reporting requirements, according to a report recently released by the department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). The documented lapse identified by OIG found that the department has not published a comprehensive ESI report since the 2010-11 award year.

Trellis’ Student Financial Wellness Survey (SFWS) is implemented each fall and covers a broad range of topics, including financial behaviors and decision-making, financial knowledge, paying for college, financial security, basic needs security, and mental health.
