NEWS FROM NASFAA

The Department of Education (ED) on Wednesday announced that it will be reviewing the bundled services exception to the incentive compensation ban in current guidance and also issued updated guidance seeking to provide clarity on what entities are considered third-party servicers.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Each year, millions of college students struggle to pay for their education and basic needs, including food, child care, housing, health care, and internet service. Among those students are a disproportionate number of first-generation students and students of color. Benefits Data Trust's new toolkit helps colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions leverage data to connect more eligible students to benefits that will help them stay in school by meeting their basic needs. Join Benefits Data Trust for a webinar on March 21 at 3 p.m. ET to see an overview of the toolkit and hear from higher ed leaders on their experiences boosting student access to benefits through data.

New Director Group Coaching, provided by NASFAA's Blue Icon Advisors, is ideal for financial aid administrators with less than one year of experience at the director level. You'll work alongside a small group of other new financial aid directors as you discuss compliance-related matters, develop an operational calendar, learn about how to identify and support your staff's professional development needs, and draft a strategic plan to work toward and bolster the goals and activities of your office. The start date for the next six-week cohort is March 3. Register today to reserve your spot.

Make sure to tune in Wednesday February 22, at 2 p.m. ET, for a discussion with NASFAA President Justin Draeger, who will provide a framework for how you can create your own personal knowledge management system to foster creativity. Whether we see it or not, everyone has the potential to be creative — not just the brainstormers among us. In this webinar Justin will discuss the ways in which professionals can develop their own personal knowledge management system, and provide tips on how you can decipher, organize, and make sense of incoming data in order to come up with the creative connections needed to tackle your biggest challenges. Secure your seat today.
