Charles MayfieldMeet Charles R. Mayfield Jr., FAAC®. Charles got his start in financial aid shortly after wrapping up his undergraduate program at Missouri Valley College with a stint in student affairs at Lindenwood University that quickly opened the door to the world of financial aid.

NASFAA, along with dozens of higher education organizations, signed on to a letter urging Congress to increase the maximum Pell Grant award to $13,000. As Congress works through the appropriations process for fiscal year (FY) 2024, President Joe Biden already released his budget request, which would increase the maximum Pell Grant by $820. The letter notes that Congress has already made “tremendous progress” toward this goal in the past three years, with the maximum award increasing by over $1,000. “Raising the maximum Pell award to $13,000 is an effective, targeted way to make college more affordable and lower student debt burdens for millions of students,” the letter states

Join our Virtual 5K Training Community to train with fellow aid administrators for a charity 5K run/walk this summer at the 2023 NASFAA National Conference in San Diego benefiting Students Without Limits. All levels of experience are welcome — the community will focus on support, training tips, and fun.
