NEWS FROM NASFAA

After months of hard work and feedback from various stakeholders — as well as guidance from a working group of financial aid, admissions, and enrollment management practitioners, including several NASFAA members — the Paying for College Transparency Initiative has produced the following documents and would like NASFAA members to submit comments, concerns, or suggestions as they head into their final steps to finalize the products. Please submit your feedback no later than June 1, 2023.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

At this year's NASFAA Virtual Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to train for NASFAA's Cost of Attendance (COA) Professional Credential. In addition to learning about all of the new components required for COA, participants will also learn the principles and purposes of the student budget construction process, gain an understanding of how to build student budgets, learn about the various allowable budget components and restrictions for certain categories of students, and become familiar with budget recalculations and the impact of non-Title IV aid on the cost of attendance. NASFAA seeks a financial aid expert to join its Business Services team as the Compliance and Project Manager. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced financial aid professional who is ready for a career change and would enjoy helping NASFAA grow its consulting business, Blue Icon Advisors, NASFAA Consulting. This position will serve as Blue Icon's compliance expert, overseeing the U.S. Department of Education Third-Party Servicer (TPS) ongoing requirements and annual audit, and will manage the Standards of Excellence (SOE) Review Program.
