NEWS FROM NASFAA

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on Monday sent a letter to all college and university presidents with updates on the launch of the 2025-26 FAFSA. Along with the letter, the Department of Education (ED) published a white paper outlining the actions they have and will take to improve the rollout of this year’s FAFSA.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

We need your great ideas for engaging, relevant, and interesting conference sessions. All types of session proposals are welcome, from those focused on advocacy, training, and professional development, to sessions structured as open-forum discussions. We urge you to construct your session proposal with an eye toward inclusion, ensuring speakers from different backgrounds — particularly those from marginalized groups — are represented. All proposals must be received by October 25, 2024. Visit our Presenters and Moderators page to submit a proposal.

This session is designed for anyone involved in supporting students who are incarcerated, such as advisors who anticipate working directly with these students, campus-advisors who are in institutions involved with prison education, faculty, and prison education program coordinators. During this webinar, now available on demand, attendees will gain practical knowledge and tools to enhance their advising practices, ensuring they effectively support students in navigating educational opportunities and overcoming barriers within the carceral environment.

So, it’s understandable if you haven’t updated your P&Ps for the upcoming award year. Blue Icon can relieve that burden for you by assessing your current policies and procedures for gaps and compliance issues, and help you write new P&Ps for the upcoming year.
