NEWS FROM NASFAA

NASFAA seeks to bring together a community of graduate and professional (GP) financial aid administrators to engage in thoughtful conversations about graduate and professional student borrowing — and NASFAA’s policy positions in that area — in the context of the current political climate as well as what is in the long-term best interest for students. The group will compose and suggest guiding advocacy/policy principles as they relate to graduate financial aid and borrowing within the context of the larger financial aid environment. NASFAA encourages GP-only FAAs, as well as FAAs who work with both undergraduate and GP students, to apply. Apply today!

The Department of Education (ED) on Tuesday announced that the second phase of beta testing for the 2025-26 FAFSA has begun, with thousands of students now expected to begin submitting their forms.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Celebrated each year on the third Wednesday in October, Financial Aid Day (FAD) is a special day set aside to celebrate and recognize the contribution of all financial aid professionals across the United States for helping students make their college-going dreams a reality. On FAD, colleagues are encouraged to do something special—have an office party, a potluck, a toast, etc.—to celebrate financial aid administrators, leaders, and consultants' contributions to the profession. What is your office doing to celebrate the occasion? Members are encouraged to send us photos of your celebration by this Friday afternoon for the chance to win a pizza party for your staff.

Blue Icon Advisors' upcoming Let's Talk session, tomorrow, October 17, will discuss policies and procedures. After all the work you put into developing policies and procedures, make sure you have a plan to keep them current! Check the schedule for additional upcoming topics and be sure to register for this upcoming session.
