With just a few days until the incoming Trump administration takes office, the Biden administration on Thursday announced its "final" approvals of student loan forgiveness for borrowers through the income-based repayment (IBR) plan and borrower defense to repayment. 

In December, NASFAA hosted its last Advocacy Pipeline for 2024. Two members – Katie Malone from Kirtland Community College and Elizabeth Keuffel from Saint Anslem College – met virtually with congressional staffers from Michigan and New Hampshire.

NASFAA Office Closed Monday for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Federal Holiday

The NASFAA office will be closed on Monday, January 20, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day federal holiday. NASFAA's Today's News will not be sent, and membership and technical support — as well as response to AskRegs inquiries — will resume when the office reopens on Tuesday, January 21.

If you are the primary contact at your institution, you should have received an invitation by email to vote online in the NASFAA elections. Once you select your candidates online, you will receive an email from NASFAA confirming your selections. Your vote will not be counted until you confirm via the email. The elections will close on Friday, January 17 at 3 p.m. ET; those elected will take office in July 2025.
