NASFAA is pleased to share its draft comments on the 2026-27 FAFSA. In this first round of comments, NASFAA praised the Department of Education (ED) for resuming its standard FAFSA schedule including two rounds of public comments and a planned October 1 release. NASFAA made several question-specific suggestions, and urged ED to fully operationalize the FAFSA Simplification Act by ensuring applicants with contributors who don’t have a Social Security Number can use the FA-DDX process. NASFAA hopes our members will use these comments to inform their own comments, which are due to ED on April 7, 2025.
No. According to guidance NASFAA has received from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), schools can no longer display the Parent Contribution (PC), Student Contribution from Income (SCI), or Total Student Contribution from Adjusted Available Income (SAAI) on financial aid offers (formerly award letters) because these data elements are designated as federal tax information (FTI) according to Electronic Announcement GENERAL-23-34. NASFAA 2025 attendees and their guests are invited to participate in a 5K walk/run on the morning of Tuesday, June 24. This year, we are also bringing back our popular Team Trivia Night with a Silent Disco option on Wednesday, June 25. Thanks to our generous Charity Event sponsors, all proceeds and donations will benefit Higher Ground Youth & Family Services, a 501(c)(3) community non-profit organization that provides services, support, and resources to youth and families in Orange County, CA. Register for the Charity Events by May 1.
