First, Megan debriefs listeners on this week’s news that the Department of Education (ED) will resume the collections process for defaulted federal student loans. Then, Jill discusses the upcoming negotiated rulemaking (NegReg) public hearing on Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and other topics. Megan also provides a brief update on two lawsuits against ED, including one on the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) repayment plan, and another from the American Federation of Teachers.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you're interested in a holistic review of your financial aid operations, the Standards of Excellence review is for you! "Our Standards of Excellence review team brought valuable experience with campuses similar to ours, and it was incredibly beneficial to engage in conversations with other aid administrators," said Mary Booker, Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid & Scholarships, Texas Tech University. " The report they provided offered a much-needed third-party perspective, highlighting key areas for improvement and giving us solid justification for the necessary changes to enhance our office operations." We are scheduling reviews for the fall 2025. Request information today to get on the calendar!

Please join us in congratulating Theodore Malone on his retirement after 39 years of working in financial aid. Celebrate your own career developments by completing the "Movers and Shakers" form to share the news with your colleagues.
