NEWS FROM NASFAA

The Department of Education (ED) released an electronic announcement last week announcing FSA Partner Connect will become the primary enrollment and user management service for FSA, meaning users will use FSA Partner Connect to enroll for access to FSA systems and to exchange information via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). ED noted the current SAIG enrollment website will retire on June 12, 2025, and SAIG enrollment functionality will move to FSA Partner Connect in July.

The Department of Education (ED) is requesting negotiator nominations for multiple constituencies – including financial aid administrators — for its upcoming negotiated rulemaking (neg reg) session that will cover income-driven repayment (IDR) plans and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF). Information on how to submit a nomination is included in the announcement. This neg reg committee will meet in-person for discussion for one week, from June 30 to July 2, 2025, in Washington, D.C., and will be available for the public to view via a livestream. NASFAA recently submitted comments to ED on PSLF, IDR, and other topics as part of its neg reg public hearings earlier this month.

The Department of Education (ED) provided an update on Friday, noting that it was working to correct an error in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) post-screening functionality, which impacted some Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) sent to SAIG mailboxes last week. According to the department, for “some” student records, the NSLDS post-screening data appeared on an earlier transaction instead of the most recent transaction, meaning the record did not reflect corrections or updates made after the initial transaction. ED stated they are working to correct the records. “In the meantime, FAAs should be sure to review a student’s full record before resolving awards and disbursements based on NSLDS post-screening data received this week,” the notice read. ED will provide an update when the delivery of the corrected records is complete.

This year's NASFAA National Conference will feature a Charity 5K, Team Trivia night, and a Silent Disco event to raise funds for our 2025 charity partner, Higher Ground Youth & Family Services. To date, we have already raised over $10,000 for this amazing non-profit. We are grateful to the following sponsors who support this cause, and whose generosity and participation makes these events possible: Attain Partners, College Aid Services, College Ave Student Loans, Earnest, Ellucian, Jenzabar, MEFA, MOHELA, Monogram, PNC Bank, Regent Education, and Sallie Mae.
