NASFAA recently published a three-part series of deep dive articles analyzing the House Committee on Education & Workforce’s portion of the reconciliation bill, which seeks to make drastic changes to Department of Education (ED) programs. Part 1 of this series focused on changes to the Pell Grant program, campus-based aid, need analysis, and student eligibility. Part 2 examined aspects of the bill related to the federal loan system, repayment programs, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), and loan servicing. Part 3 outlines the proposed risk-sharing agreement for institutional accountability and the elimination of multiple higher education regulations. NASFAA has also developed a budget reconciliation web center to provide you with information on the existing proposal and resources to assist you in your advocacy.
