NASFAA, as part of the Student Aid Alliance, signed onto a letter urging lawmakers to continue their bipartisan support of federal student aid programs in fiscal year (FY) 2026 and oppose the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to several programs. “Over decades, both Republicans and Democrats in Congress created and invested in the federal student aid programs to bolster a competitive U.S. workforce, ensure low- and middle-income students have the same opportunities as their more affluent peers, and strengthen America’s economy,” the Student Aid Alliance wrote. Specifically, the letter stressed the importance of funding the federal student aid programs, including the Pell Grant, Federal Work-Study (FWS), Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), TRIO, and other programs.

Updates to the NASFAA Policies & Procedures (P&P) Builder for the 2025-26 award year will be live Friday, June 20, 2025. The 2024-25 P&P Builder template will remain available until archival on Monday, July 7, 2025. This functionality allows schools to finish any updates to their manual for the current award year. To move forward with updates to policies and procedures for the 2025-26 award year as soon as the template becomes available, within the tool, select “Start a New Manual.” This step is very important; there will not be a forced push to the new template until archival takes place at the beginning of July. Starting a new manual prompts rollover to the 2025-26 template. There is no need to worry; rolling over previous versions of your manual to the new template is quick and easy. Once the manual is rolled over, updates can continue.
