NASFAA Credential Training: Need Analysis

Concurrent Session
For this credential training, we will discuss need analysis with the implementation of the Student Aid Index (SAI) and the calculation of an applicant's SAI. Bonus material: Included with this training is a lesson on institutional methodology, developed in collaboration with the College Board.

Completion of this online training qualifies individuals to take the corresponding NASFAA Professional Credential test at no additional cost. To qualify:
- LIVE attendance is required. You will NOT receive complimentary access if you only view the recording on-demand.
- You must view at least 120 minutes (two hours) of the session.
- Provide your NASFAA ID when you complete the secondary registration process for the session. Please view these instructions to find your NASFAA ID: https://www.nasfaa.org/find_nasfaa_id
- Access to the credential test will be granted within three business days of the session air date.
- The session will be recorded and available on-demand during the 40-day credential testing window.

Tonya joined NASFAA's Training and Regulatory Assistance team in 2019. Prior to joining NASFAA, she was the senior assistant director of financial aid at Franklin & Marshall College. Her interest in financial aid started as a work-study student and she has worked professionally in financial aid since 2002. She received a bachelor's degree in secondary mathematics education and master's degree in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a second bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting from Millersville University. She also volunteered for numerous committees and served for many years as the treasurer of the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PASFAA). She is married to her husband, Danny, and they have a daughter, Alana.

Norma Robinson is a compliance generalist and NASFAA U instructor; joining NASFAA’s Training and Regulatory Assistance team in 2022. After working briefly in admissions and advising, Norma found her niche when she began working in financial aid in 2005. Prior to joining NASFAA, Norma worked at Barry University, serving undergraduate as well as graduate and professional students as a financial aid counselor, an assistant director, and finally as senior associate director. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a master’s from Barry University. As a near-lifelong Florida resident, Norma has lived all over the state, but settled in South Florida in 2007. She lives in Hollywood, FL with her husband and Chinese Crested dog, and enjoys reading, kickboxing, and listening to podcasts.
