Dennis Kramer joined the U.S Department of Education (ED) office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) in June 2020 as a senior advisor for the office responsible for—among other things—developing and launching the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, communications to students, parents, borrowers, and college access partners, and customer analytics. He moved to federal student aid’s policy implementation office the following year to lead policy research and analysis. In this role, Kramer leads FSA’s efforts to conduct rigorous and policy-relevant evaluations to inform key decisions about policy and program implementation. Before joining FSA, Kramer served on the faculty at the University of Virginia, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Florida. He was the founding director of the University of Florida’s Education Policy Research Center and coordinated multiple graduate programs in education policy and higher education administration. Kramer earned his doctorate in higher education policy from the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia.
