Tim serves as NASFAA's community manager, where he works to create a sense of belonging and community for NASFAA members. Tim works closely with internal and external partners to ensure an experience that helps NASFAA members find their people. Before joining NASFAA, Tim worked for more than 10 years in higher education serving in student housing, financial aid, and community development. He is a proud graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh and Shepherd University, with a master's degree in College Student Development and Administration. When he's not chatting with our members, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children in the Washington, D.C. area where they reside. Catherine Mix

Catherine Mix, FAAC

Catherine W. Mix is a two-time graduate from the University of Dayton, and has been working there for the past twenty two years. She began her career in Marketing Research at a local firm in Dayton, Ohio and then joined higher education as a Financial Aid Counselor. She truly enjoys the field of Higher Education and find the pace and energy of a college campus engaging. Currently, she serves as Associate Vice President of Student Enrollment Services, having oversight of both the Office of Financial Aid and Flyer Student Services, the university’s one stop office. Catherine has a passion for advancing the university’s mission and connecting with colleagues across the university in intentional ways to do so. Her own experience as a college student still informs her work today. As a first generation student, she was a recipient of the federal Pell grant and is an advocate for need-based funding at her own institution today. Catherine holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the university. Catherine is married to her college sweetheart, Brian, and they have four children together, ranging from 22 to 12 years in age. When not occupied with the myriad of changes constantly flowing from the federal government, she enjoys any outdoor activities, especially biking and gardening. In the rare moments that she has quiet time, she enjoys reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books. Catherine is originally from Fostoria, a small farm two in Northeast Ohio. She spent many summers at Lake Erie and enjoys time at ANY beach. Music has always been something important to her since childhood and she has future aspirations to learn to play the piano and violin.
Andrew Rouhier

Andrew Rouhier, FAAC

Andrew Rouhier is a two-time graduate from Wright State University, where he began his 19-year career in financial aid as a verification specialist. He joined Enrollment Management at the University of Dayton 8 years ago as the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations. Currently, Andrew serves as the Director of the Financial Aid Operations area, focusing on systems, automation, and award strategy. As a leader, he focuses on leadership through service. Creating opportunities for students to access Higher Education is very important to him. Andrew is married to his high school sweetheart, Cathy, and they have two cats together. In his spare time, he is fan of all things geeky, such as comic books, movies, board games, and more. Andrew also supports community and charity events through making and wearing screen-accurate Star Wars costumes through the organization, the Rebel Legion. If he can't be found doing one of these activities, you will probably find Andrew at a concert or a comic convention.
Christina Tangalakis

Christina Tangalakis, FAAC

Senior Director of Financial Aid
Antelope Valley College

Dr. Tangalakis has 23 years of experience in higher education in various roles in student financial aid, focused on equity and access, student success, retention, enrollment management, scholarships, strategic planning, and transformational aid administration. Christina is currently the Associate Dean of Financial Aid at Glendale College, in Glendale, California. She is active in her local, state, regional and national associations and is proud to have served on the NASFAA board for 2020-2021 as a Commission Director, overseeing the work of the State Advocacy and Implicit Bias task forces. Her other association roles have included NASFAA CFAA Commission Past-Chair, WASFAA Ethnic Diversity Chair for 2020-2022, and is the current CASFAA Past-President for 2023-2024. Dr. Tangalakis has worked in four different sectors of higher education and has a broad understanding of the challenges facing financial aid administrators. As a parent of three daughters, all college graduates, Dr. Tangalakis has navigated the financial aid process from the personal and the professional perspective. She has a keen interest in conversations on creating meaningful work for financial aid staff, improving how students experience the financial aid process, and maintaining compliance in a rapidly changing environment. Her research on reforming SAP from an equity lens will be presented at the 2024 AERA Conference in Philadelphia. In 2014, Christina published her doctoral thesis on the college-going identities of Latinx students without documentation. Christina also serves on the board of the Foundation for the AIDS Monument and lives in north Los Angeles with her family.
