NASFAA Launches New Consulting Service: Blue Icon Advisors LLC

NASFAA is proud to announce the creation of Blue Icon Advisors to provide consulting, leadership support, and compliance services to colleges, universities, and career schools.

For more than 50 years, NASFAA has served as a trusted resource for financial aid administrators. That legacy of support and commitment to excellence continues with Blue Icon Advisors. “NASFAA is widely recognized as an authority on financial aid,” 2018-19 NASFAA National Chair Lori Vedder explained. “By adding Blue Icon Advisors as one of our business services, we are reinforcing our commitment to success by providing affordable and accessible compliance, consulting, and training solutions.”

NASFAA President Justin Draeger echoed Vedder’s sentiment. “Sometimes you need an outside, trusted advisor with specific expertise to help clarify an issue and create a path forward. Blue Icon Advisors offers financial aid administrators that extra layer of support however they need it,” he said.

The Blue Icon Advisors’ new leadership team includes Mindy Eline, long-time NASFAA vice president, who now serves as Blue Icon Advisors’ executive director; Mandy Sponholtz, former SOE program administrator, who has taken on the role of Blue Icon Advisors’ director of operations; and Tony Erwin, former vice president of enrollment management and student affairs at Merrimack College, who joined Blue Icon Advisors as principal consultant in March. Blue Icon Advisors is accepting applications from financial aid professionals to serve as independent consultants.

Blue Icon Advisors has consultants out in the field now working with schools on policies and procedures, coaching new directors, and developing custom training programs, and is currently accepting projects for Fall 2019 and Winter/Spring 2020.

“The response from the financial aid community has been very positive,” said Mindy Eline, executive director. “Our list of consultants—experienced financial aid professionals who are ready to share their expertise and passion with their peers—grows every day,” she continued.
