SOE Case Study: Tennessee Technological University

"The Standards of Excellence Program has been an invaluable resource for our team, division, and university." -Tennessee Technological University

Mary McCaskey, Director of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs at Tennessee Technological University, requested a Standards of Excellence (SOE) peer review to identify compliance concerns and improve office operations and automation. The SOE program interested her because of its team of peer reviewers. She wanted experienced professionals currently working in the field to help.

"Having the opportunity to talk with the SOE team and share thoughts was a positive experience for the staff," McCaskey said. She found the reviewers to be helpful, knowledgeable, and she appreciated they had a good mix of experience and background. McCaskey adds, "It was nice to hear what their schools did in certain situations and to get different perspectives."

McCaskey and her team have already started implementing suggestions from the SOE final report: "I can truly say that the insight and information we gained through the Standards of Excellence Program has been an invaluable resource for our team, division, and university."
