The January 9, 2019 Electronic Announcement, Changes to 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Verification Requirements, allows schools to accept signed copies of tax returns instead of tax transcripts under certain conditions. The copy of the tax return must be signed by the tax filer or contain the necessary tax preparer information. View the full answer to this question to learn more and search for answers to your other pressing regulatory and compliance questions, in NASFAA's AskRegs Knowledgebase.

NASFAA regularly brings together task forces made up of NASFAA members who volunteer to dive into legislative and policy proposals and prepare easy-to-digest reports on complicated topics. Some of the issues our task forces have reviewed include: campus-based aid, financial aid simplification, loans, repayment, student indebtedness, and students displaced by sudden school closures. Head to the Policy Task Forces page to dig into the reports these task forces have published. Already familiar with our task force reports? NASFAA is looking for a student to fill a 12-week paid internship with NASFAA's Policy and Federal Relations staff. The intern will help develop advocacy materials; attend and report on hearings, events, and meetings; analyze and summarize legislation and regulations; and much more. Those students studying in fields related to higher education, public policy, political science, and history may benefit most from this internship. If you know graduate or undergraduate students who may be interested, please encourage them to apply. This internship is supported by the Dallas Martin Endowment for Public Policy and Student Aid. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 1, 2019, to be considered.
