NEWS FROM NASFAA

NASFAA submitted written comments this week to the Department of Education (ED) on its proposed rules regarding state authorization for distance education programs.

Earlier this week, NASFAA sent the recommendations from its Consumer Information and Law Student Indebtedness (CILSI) Task Force Report, released in March 2016, to U.S. Department of Education (ED) Chief Operating Officer Jim Runcie. This report highlights areas for improvement in consumer information provided by ED to graduate/professional students. The central recommendation of the report is for ED to create a new “landing page” to StudentAid.gov and StudentLoans.gov that would allow users to personalize their experience based on their school type and/or individual attributes. The second report from this task force will be released later in 2016.

NASFAA has developed a series of video tours to help you use the Compliance Engine to its fullest. This week's video focuses on the features of the "My Checklists" Dashboard. Sort your checklists, quickly review assignments, archive and re-activate items so you can keep your virtual workspace organized and efficient. Reporting options allow you to export the contents of your checklists and completed assignments to PDF format and email reports directly from the tool to help your entire team stay on task. Watch the video to learn more.
