The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has corrected and reposted GEN-19-02, 2020–2021 Award Year: FAFSA® Information to be Verified and Acceptable Documentation. It now correctly includes high school completion and identity/Statement of Educational Purpose in Verification Tracking Group V5. The PDF attachment of GEN-19-02 was always correct in this regard.
Yes. According to guidance NASFAA has received from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), FWS students’ first paychecks can be issued more than one month after their start date if it is because of the normal start-up process for paying a new employee under the school's payroll system. After that first paycheck, FWS employees must be paid at least once a month as required under 34 CFR 675.16(a)(2). Please join us in congratulating Carrie Short, who will start a new position as the director of financial services at Lorain County Community College, Theodore Malone, who was awarded the Lifetime Membership Award by WASFAA at the 50th WASFAA Conference in June, and Ashley Richardson, who was promoted from financial aid advisor to assistant director of financial aid at St. Louis College of Health Careers. Learn more about other colleagues' accomplishments, recognitions, and achievements, and submit your own, on our Movers and Shakers page.
Each time you access the NASFAA Conference App and take certain actions—like downloading a session handout, connecting with a conference sponsor or exhibitor, connecting with other attendees, etc.—you will earn points. QR Codes will be at each exhibitor’s booth, so you can learn about new products and services and earn points at the same time. The person with the most points at 5:15 pm on Wednesday, June 26 will win a free 2020 National Conference registration, second place will receive a 2020 NASFAA Leadership & Legislative Conference & Expo registration, and third, fourth, and fifth place winners will receive a complimentary NASFAA U online course registration of their choosing.
