NEWS FROM NASFAA

NASFAA members, we don't have to tell you how challenging the last few weeks have been for the financial aid community. You've been living that reality, day in and day out. Advocating for better public policy is more art than science — and as such, we understand it's important for NASFAA to demonstrate how we're elevating your voices on a daily basis in our advocacy efforts. With that in mind, we want to share a few ways we've been communicating your concerns with the Department of Education, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.

In stark terms, NASFAA President & CEO Justin Draeger, along with other higher education experts, provided testimony to a House education subcommittee on Wednesday over the flawed rollout of the 2024-25 FAFSA, and detailed how Congress should work to rectify the ongoing challenges that have led the community to question the Department of Education’s (ED) credibility.

As House lawmakers begin to sort through President Joe Biden’s fiscal year 2025 budget proposal, members used a hearing on Wednesday with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to demand answers on the “disastrous” rollout of the 2024-25 FAFSA.
