U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

As announced in a May 9, 2017 Federal Register notice, the Secretary seeks information from the public regarding the major features and types of commonly assessed fees that postsecondary institutions must disclose under the cash management regulations under a Tier 1 (T1) or Tier 2 (T2) arrangement.

The purpose of this information collection package—the Consolidated Annual Report (CAR)—is to gather narrative, financial, and performance data as required by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV).

This collection contains the application forms and instructions for the Language Resource Centers (LRC) Program. It is used by applicants to apply for funding under the LRC program.

"The White House's 2018 budget for education -- expected to be released next week as part of the administration's full spending proposals -- appears to double down on the eye-popping cuts to programs included in the Trump administration's 'skinny budget' released in March," Inside Higher Ed reports. "When the White House proposed reductions in spending midyear, that was a nonstarter for congressional appropriators, said Justin Draeger, president and CEO of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. He said he's less confident about the next funding cycle."

"A copy of President Trump’s proposed education budget has been leaked to the Washington Post," Marketplace reports. NASFAA President Justin Drager is featured in the segment.

"More than 400,000 student loan borrowers may have placed their faith in a government program with an uncertain future," CNN Money reports.

"Budget documents obtained by The Washington Post show President Trump’s administration is proposing a raft of changes that could have significant impact on college students and graduates," The Washington Post reports.


"More high school seniors had applied for federal student aid by this month than the previous year's seniors had by June 30 last year, the National College Access Network said Wednesda," Inside Higher Ed reports.

"Adding to the University of Puerto Rico’s financial woes, the Department of Education has rescinded the eligibility of five of the system’s 11 campuses for Title IV programs due to the ongoing student strike," Diverse: Issues in Higher Education reports.
