According to recent conversations with the Department of Education (ED), numerous schools have already reported necessary data regarding their Gainful Employment (GE) programs. However, some data remains missing, incomplete or erroneous. In GE Announcement #58 regarding discontinued programs, ED stated at the end of the notice:
While the deadline for reporting has now passed, we understand that some institutions may not have understood that reporting for discontinued programs is required. Moreover, these and other institutions would not have had the guidance provided above when they reported for their programs. If your institution has not yet reported all required data, your institution should do so as soon as possible. We expect to send letters by the end of the month to institutions that have not reported or who may have reported incomplete data.
NASFAA requested an extension of the July 31 deadline, but did not receive a response from ED. ED reported to NASFAA, though, that even if schools missed the deadline, schools should take measures to report or correct the data as soon as possible. During the 2015 NASFAA National Conference, ED indicated it would send letters to the presidents of schools that fail to report GE data, and continued violations to report data may result in sanctions.
