Subject: Guidance on the Use of Financial Aid Information for Program Evaluation and Research

The Department of Education’s Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) has published guidance on the use of student financial aid information for program evaluation and research. That guidance is available at http://ptac.ed.gov/sites/default/files/FSA_final.pdf.

The Department established PTAC as a “one-stop” resource for education stakeholders to learn about data privacy, confidentiality, and security practices related to student-level longitudinal data systems and other uses of student data. Additional information regarding these matters may be found at PTAC’s website.

If you have questions about the PTAC guidance or other privacy or security matters related to student financial aid information, please contact the PTAC Help Desk by email at [email protected] or by phone at 855-249-3072.
